Your caveman can start their adventures from one of three starting villages. The villages are major adventuring hubs for your newbie cavemen. They are pretty much the same and have all the facilities for starting an adventure. The only difference with each is the location of the various shops you can find and also their location relative to specific dungeons.

Maquina is quiet snow covered town. Acorns can be found in town on ground here.
Shefa is also a quiet town with Oranges found on the ground here.
Halbol is a busy town, for trading, also with Oranges found on the ground here.
All Three Villages have random items such as leafs and stones and sticks falling.
