Stone Age 2 Wiki

Weapons in StoneAge2 are bought from vendors in towns or made by pals through the Combination process. Weapons comes in many varieties: Axes, boomerangs, bows, clubs, claws, spears, stones and throwing axes. Weapons are either melee or ranged and single or multi target. Melee weapons require that you run up to the target to hit it, and leaves you susceptible to counter-attack. Ranged weapons are thrown or shot at the target(s) so you cannot be counter-attacked, but you also can't counter-attack with a ranged weapon. Most weapons are single-target weapons in that you hit just a single target with each attack. Some weapons are multi-target and can hit more than one target each combat round. Any weapon which is ranged or multi-target also makes it so you don't join in combo attacks with your pals.

Axes[]

Axes have energy requirements on them (Need column) and are single-target melee weapons.

Boomerangs[]

Boomerangs (or Kyles as they call them in game) are ranged multi-target weapons. They can potentially hit all the characters in the same row as the target, but have a lower chance of hitting than most weapons. The Suna Boomerang has a higher chance of hitting and striking multiple targets. They all have Spirit requirements (Need column) to use so tend to be favored by the shaman/mage builds (heavy Spirit builds).

Bows[]

Bows are ranged multi-target weapons with low Attack power. They can hit 1-4 targets in any row, but have a lower chance of hitting than most weapons. The Poma Bow has a higher chance of hitting and striking multiple targets. They all have Speed (Need column) requirements to use so are favored by the Attack/Speed heavy builds such as the Berserker/Archer build.

Claws[]

Claws are single/multi-target melee weapons with low Attack power. Most of them hit twice on the same target or once on two targets if you kill the first target. The Shefa Claw hits up to four times. They all have Speed (Need column) requirements so are best in the hands of an Attack/Speed build such as the Berserker/Archer build.

Clubs[]

Clubs have no attribute requirements to use so they're often used by low level players or as melee weapons by players with very specific attribute builds (like a heavy Spirit build).

Spears[]

Spears are single-target melee weapons with decent attack power and added counter attack power. They all have Attack requirements (Need column) so favor builds with high Attack power. Halbol's Spear has the addition of +10 Crit so appears to be targetted at a counter-attack defense, which sort of flips around the old cliche of "The best defense is a good offense."

Stones[]

Stones are single-target ranged weapons with the odd fact of having a negative Attack modifier (there's a reason for this). Their use in game is to allow a player with high attack power to reduce that attack power to enable wounding a wild pal for the purpose of capturing it. So if you're trying to capture a low level pal and find yourself one-shotting them with your normal weapons, try various stones to reduce your attack power to see if you can whittle away at their health without killing them.

Throwing Axes[]

Throwing axes (mini axes in game terms) are single-target ranged weapons. As they have no attribute requirements to use, they are good for low level characters or builds favoring attributes which preclude using other sorts of weapons.

A Note About Attributes[]

To readers and contributors: I tend to use the Attributes, Attack, Energy, Speed, Spirit as shown on the character screen. Due to spotty translation you will run across items in the game with things like "Alert -1" which means "Speed -1" or "Needs: Strength 5" which means "Needs a base (unadjusted by equipment) Attack power of 5 or higher to use". So for consistency sake, I stick to using the four character screen attributes when entering data in the tables.
